With less than a month to go until the closing date, some 57,745 farmers have applied to the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), the Department of Agriculture has confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal.

Since last year, all applications must be submitted online, as the Department moves away from paper-based applications as a result of EU regulations.

Clinics

To support farmers in making their applications, the Department is holding a number of BPS clinics around the country over the coming weeks.

The venues and times for next week’s application clinics will be available on www.farmersjournal.ie on Monday morning.

The closing date for applications is 15 May 2019.
