The number of planning permissions granted for new farm buildings in the second quarter of the year is down on the same period last year. The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that in the second quarter of 2019 some 308 new constructions were granted planning permission.

This is back on the 411 which received the green light in the same period last year.

While permissions for new builds are trending downwards, the number of farm building extensions in the first half of 2019 is up marginally, with 76 permissions granted compared to 73 for the same period last year.
