One of the most anticipated vintage tractor auctions of recent times occurred at Paul Cooke’s yard in Naas, Co Kildare, on Saturday.

A huge crowd was in attendance for the clearance sale of one man’s collection.

There was a total clearance of all the items for sale and trade was strong for every type of tractor, from the fully restored to the completely original machines in need of some serious TLC.

Prices ranged from €850 for a Ferguson 20 petrol TVO 2WD up to €10,000 for a very low hours Massey Ferguson 265 diesel.

The total collection made close to €150,000.

Some of the stars of the auction were not Massey Fergusons, including this restored International 454 2wd which came with its original manual and reached a top bid of €5,600.

This completely original Ford 2000 Super went for a healthy €3,700.

This McCormick International B275 with 2,749 hours on the clock came with a loader. Still in its original paint and shoes, it made €6,000, with lots of bidders showing interest in this tidy outfit.

A lovely little 1969 Zetor 2511 2WD with 4264hrs went for €2,400.

All 40 lots were sold, including an International 430 square baler which had had very little use and came with its original paint, PTO shaft and cover and original manual. It sold for the bargain price of €1,400.
