The first day of the 2019 National Ploughing Championships is forecast to be a dry and bright day.

Early morning mist and fog is to clear on Tuesday, with good spells of autumn sunshine developing by mid-morning.

Warm

For the Ploughing site itself in Balintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow, temperatures are set to hit 18°C, according to Met Éireann.

Last week, the Irish Farmers Journal asked Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton what the weather would be like for the 2019 event. Eagleton said it was set to be dry and bright.

"If the weather could be ordered, this is what it would be," he said.
