As dry conditions prevailed for the last few weeks, the northwestern potato countries fear drought. The North-Western European Potato Growers (NEPG) are not convinced that they are heading for average yields this year even though the five largest countries increased acreage planted by 2.2%. The condition of the crop is good, however in almost all NEPG areas drought and water levels are the main concern for growers.

Similarly, at home the quality of the main crop is looking good and irrigation is taking place in many regions to maintain quality. The lifting of early Queens is beginning to wind down especially in the southeast, much ahead of last year.
