Brett Brothers, the animal feed manufacturer based in Callan, Co Kilkenny, saw its profits dip last year as trading returned to a more normalised pattern in 2019 following the spike in demand for feed and fertiliser in 2018 due to the spring fodder crisis and summer drought.

Recently filed accounts show Bretts made operating profits of just over €2.4m in 2019, which was down 11% year on year. While profits fell, profit margins in the business held relatively steady at a healthy 4.9%. Pre-tax profits for 2019 dropped by 10% year on year to €2.4m.
