Foyle Meats Donegal, which is part of the Foyle Food Group and owned by the Acheson family, recorded a strong performance in 2019 as profits more than tripled. Accounts recently filed with the companies office (CRO) show Foyle Meats Donegal made operating profits of €2.4m last year, which was more than triple the €782,000 operating profit it made a year previous. Operating profit margins in the business widened to a steady 2.3%.

Foyle Meats Donegal recorded sales of €106m for 2019

Foyle Meats Donegal reported a pre-tax profit of just under €2m for 2019, which is almost five times higher than a year earlier and a significant improvement on the pre-tax loss of €1.1m it made in 2017.

Overall, Foyle Meats Donegal recorded sales of €106m for 2019, which was in line with the previous year. The accounts show the net assets of the business increased to €2.5m at year-end.

Foyle Meats Donegal employs more than 220 people at its abattoir and boning hall in Carrigans, Co Donegal, slaughtering between 50,000 and 60,000 head of cattle per year and was less disrupted by the beef factory protests in 2019 than other factories.
