A 145ac dairy farm with old farmhouse at Springvalley, Summerhill, Co Meath, made €2.875m when sold at auction by Sherry FitzGerald Brady O’Flaherty. The guide price was €2.5m.

The farm was first offered in lots but most interest was for the entire. It opened at €2.1m with three parties bidding and went on the market at €2.55m.

A further 12 bids were made and the hammer fell to a local businessman with a tillage operation. The next bidder was another tillage farmer. The price – including the house which needs renovation – equalled €19,827/ac.

“This superb farm attracted significant interest,” auctioneer Eamon O’ Flaherty said. “Interestingly, while several dairy farmers viewed the farm, none bid on the day, with the bidding coming from the non-farming sector and tillage.”
