A 124ac farm in Co Wexford has sold in lots at auction for €1.55m or €12,500/ac, above the guide price.
The farm at Killisk, The Ballagh included a derelict farmhouse and potential sand deposits and was offered for sale by Quinn Property.
Lot 1 was 25.6ac. Bidding opened at €200,000 and three bidders competed. It was placed on the market at €400,000.
Two parties then continued bidding until the hammer fell at €450,000, equal to just over
€17,500/ac.
Lot 2 was 7.7ac with the house. Bidding opened at €50,000 and rose to €135,000 in two rounds.
Lot 3 was 53ac. Bidding opened at €300,000 and rose to €450,000. Lot 4, 14.7ac, opened at €120,000 and rose to €180,000, again in two rounds of bidding.
Lot 5, 23ac, opened at €100,000 and rose to €220,000.
Lot 6, the combination of Lots 2 to 5, then opened at €930,000 and rose to €1.005m in two rounds of bidding.
The other lots were withdrawn and further bids invited on Lot 6. After a number of bids, it was knocked down at €1.1m.
The same auctioneers also sold a 61ac farm at Scarawalsh, Ferns, Co Wexford prior to auction. The property had a derelict two-storey farmhouse and was guided at €16,000 to €18,000/ac. It sold at well over the guide, auctioneer David Quinn said.
In Co Offaly, GVM Property Tullamore sold a farm at Ballinvalley, Killeigh by online auction, in lots.
Lot 1 was 17.7ac of grazing land in two fields with good hedge boundaries. It sold for €200,000.
Lot 2 was 4.8ac of gently sloping, grassland between Killeigh and
Gurteen Bridge. The hammer finally fell here at €66,000.
