James L Murtagh is holding a series of land auctions this month.
In recent days the firm sold a 45.5ac block of tillage land at Knightsbrook, Trim, Co Meath. The land was in one large field. Part of it is zoned for D1 Tourism uses. It sold for €900,000, or just under €20,000/ac.
The firm auctioned a farm at Newforest/Cloneyheigue, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath in a number of lots.
Lot 2 was 22.2ac of mixed quality land and it sold for €110,000. Lot 4 was 11.5ac and it sold for €137,000.
The firm sold a 14.5ac parcel at Clongowney, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. It made €152,000.
GVM Auctioneers auctioned a 38ac holding at Mount Nagle, Mallow, Co Cork. It made €480,000 and the buyers were a couple with local connections.
GVM also sold a house on 0.5ac at Ballyaglish, Ballysteen, Co Limerick for €164,000. A 42ac holding of land beside the house sold for €180,000 to a local business person with agricultural interests.

Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon had a successful auction of a 54ac residential farm at Cutteen, Tulla, Co Clare. It was offered in lots but sold in the entire for €1.06m – well over the guide price.
A 74ac residential farm at Nobber, Co Meath has sold at auction for €1.8m, double its guide price. The farm at Julianstown was sold by Colliers in conjunction with Gore Grimes Solicitors.
The property was offered in lots, reaching a combined total of €1.27m. It was then offered in the entire and was bid to €1.8m and knocked down at this price. The buyers are believed to be a farming family already involved in cattle and horses.
Joe Coogan Auctioneers sold 11ac at Lower Muckalee, Co Kilkenny, at auction. It had no road frontage, with access available only by a laneway from the public road.
The bidding opened at €100,000 and 13 further bids were then made by two local, adjoining farmers. The property was knocked down at €200,000, equal to €18,181/ac.
Joe Coogan Auctioneers have also sold 18.5ac at Doonane, Crettyard, Co Laois. This ground was described as ideally suited for summer grazing and for hay and silage.
The bidding opened at €200,000 and the property was then withdrawn at this figure, for negotiations. The land was sold after these negotiations for a substantially higher figure, equal to over €15,000/ac.
