The beef trade is showing more promise this week, with some factories running short on supplies and ringing finishers in a bid to source cattle.

Prices have increased by an average of 3c/kg to 5c/kg, with steers trading in general at a base of €4.00/kg to €4.05/kg and heifers from €4.10/kg to €4.15/kg.

IFA livestock chair Angus Woods said “cattle prices are rising but not fast enough and not in line with the price levels in our largest export market in the UK.”
