The hogget trade continues to increase on the back of very tight supplies. Factories have increased quotes by another 5c/kg in cases and are reluctant to pass the €6.40/kg. There are, however, deals being completed in isolated cases above this level with specialist finishers or producers handling large numbers. The tightness in supply is reflected in the drop of 5,086 in last week’s kill, which fell to just 38,573 head, and a major fall of 13,506 head on volumes handled a fortnight ago.
