A 65ac property with a derelict house at Ironhills, Suncroft, Co Kildare, sold for €550,000 (€8,500/ac) when it went to auction on 2 July. The auction was held on the land, outdoors, as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.

Jordan Auctioneers rolled back the years when they Auctioned 65ac at Ironhills, Suncroft, Co.Kildare on 2 July on the property instead of the more plush surroundings of a hotel.

“The setting was different, but a major success and despite all the advances in technology, the human touch still goes a long way,” a spokesperson for selling agents Jordan Auctioneers said.

With an attendance of about 40 people there were several active bidders from the outset with the property opening at €300,000. The property went on the market at €500,000 and two bidders fought it out before the hammer dropped at €550,000 to a local farmer.

“Despite all the COVID-19 uncertainty interest levels were strong from the outset,” said Clive Kavanagh from Jordan Auctioneers.
