Farmers from Roscommon, Mayo, Donegal, Wexford and Galway have been penalised by Revenue to the tune of €4,937,500.

A Roscommon farmer was penalised €4.92m by Revenue. Michael Feeley, with an address at Antogher road, Roscommon, was penalised €2.4m for non-declaration of capital gains tax, with interest of €720k and penalties of €1.8m also incurred.

Diesel

Four farmers featured on the list for the misuse of marked mineral oil each and were each fined €2,500, amounting to €10,000 in total.

These fined were; Owen Breen, Grove Little, Hollyfort, Gorey, Co Wexford; Vincent Devereux, Rostoonstown, Tacumshane, Co Wexford; Wesley Hatton, Ballyhyland, Caim, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford and John Heffernan, Thonabrucky, Rahoon, Co Galway.

Tax returns

Three other farmers also featured on the list in relation to failing to provide tax returns, amounting to €7,500 in total.

These include; Diane Jennings, Knocknadrimna, Hollymount, Co Mayo – penalised €1,250; Thomas Lynagh, Rahard, Robeen, Hollymount, Co Mayo – penalised €1,250 and Gerard McGarvey, Labadough, Golan, Milford, Co Donegal – penalised €5,000.
