A nephew of country singer Louise Morrissey is seriously ill in a Thailand hospital where he has been in a coma since the 14 July. A major fundraising dance, under the auspices of the Bring Jamey Home Trust, will be held in Racket Hall, Roscrea, on Tuesday, 9 September.

“Jamey, our sister Noreen’s son, remains in a serious condition in Thailand,” says Louise. “He suffered a seizure while travelling in Thailand and has been on a ventilator since. The situation is particularly traumatic for his mother Noreen who, along with her partner Liam, has been at his bedside since the ordeal began.

“We need to get him home to Ireland as soon as possible for further treatment that he urgently needs. The costs involved in bringing someone in Jamey’s condition home are extremely high. He needs to be accompanied by a doctor and nurse. A ventilator and other medical equipment must also be brought on board the plane.

“Many of our friends in the music business are giving their time to help out on the night in Roscrea. Jimmy Buckley, Patrick Feeney, Crystal Swing, The Davitt Country Band, Gerry Guthrie, Matt Leavy, Trevor Loughrey, Shunie Crampsey, The Ryan Turner Band and others will be there lending us their support.

“Jamey is a former member of my band where he played lead guitar and also featured on vocals. It is a testing time for all of us and his illness and setback came just four days after the death of our mother Angela.

“We are hoping as many people as possible will rally to Jamey’s cause and we all pray that he will come through this and make a full recovery.”
