Rugby international referee Nigel Owens has welcomed the birth of his first pedigree Hereford calf on his farm.
The Welshman took to Twitter before the birth saying: “There’s only two times I’ve been nervous in my life, one was refereeing the World Cup final and the other one was coming out all those years ago.
“But I don’t think I’ve been as nervous as today, because today down on the farm, well either today or tomorrow, I’m expecting the first calf to be born since I set up the Mairwen herd.
“I’ve never been so nervous in my life. God, I’m glad I can’t give birth.”
Well she made it look easy bless her. Lovely bull calf born to Hannah 369. Mum and son all doing well so far. A rugby match will be easy to referee after the worry of first time calving. ??#TheMairwenHerd. @BazJonesDavies you were brilliant too pic.twitter.com/CxLLU45de2

Thankfully for all involved, the heifer calved away and gave birth to a lively bull calf without any problems. The Dealer reckons if the Hereford society was to arrange a farm visit to Nigel, it might be their most popular one yet.
