At the end of May, 26 Macra members from all corners of Ireland took part in a cycle of the Greenway in Mayo. Organised by Lisa Walsh and other members of the rural youth committee, the group cycled the 26 miles from Murrisk to Achill, Co Mayo.

Spending the best part of the day on their bikes, they took in some of Ireland’s breathtaking scenery along the coast of Clew Bay, not to mention the local hospitality.

The group finished off their trip with a visit to Keem beach, which is at the western end of Achill Island and definitely a must-see – a real hidden gem.

After a hard day on their bikes in glorious sunshine, the group took residence in a local hotel, where they enjoyed dinner and a few drinks to help ease the sore muscles. Many thanks to Tommie Gill of Westport Cycle Tours for his five-star service. Keep an eye out for upcoming trips.
