Our survey this week suggests September milk supply was better than the same month last year for most of the processors. The big four – Glanbia, Lakeland, Kerry, and Dairygold – estimate monthly volume changes of +2%, +3.5%, -0.4% and on par, respectively, for September 2020 compared to 2019 supply.

In the west, Aurivo suggests September supply will be up 7.5%, while Arrabawn suggests it will be up over 5% on the same month last year. In west Cork, Lisavaird estimates delivery to be up 3% and Bandon up 1%.

The CSO reports the 2019 September volume was 722.8m litres, so 3% on that would bring volume close to 750m litres. It also confirmed this week that August 2020 volumes were up 2.9% on August 2019.
