This week, Darren Carty details the recommendations from the EU Sheep Meat Forum. Billed as a plan to save the sheepmeat sector, it is a useful first step. However, given the number of reports on the sheep sector that are now gathering dust, farmers will naturally be sceptical. The next step has to be to establish definitive targets for the sector over the next 10 years against which we can assess the performance of the European Commission in developing polices that deliver on these objectives.
