Quarantine importance:

Purchasing sheep around lambing should be approached with caution due to the high risk of importing disease. Any sheep purchased should be kept separate to the main flock until they have come through a significant quarantine period. Where in-lamb ewes are being purchased, they should be lambed in separate facilities that allow for any potential disease risk to be isolated. Investigating the health status of the flock you are purchasing from is highly recommended, but still does not eliminate the need for a quarantine period.
