A farmer in Co Kilkenny has appealed for anyone with information on the whereabouts of 15 ewes, missing since 29 July, to come forward.
The 15 ewes are cross-bred and of mixed breeds, with around half of the group being hoggets and half of mixed age, farmer James Doyle told the Irish Farmers Journal.
His sheep are identifiable by the letter ‘D’ painted on their backs, Doyle said.
They had been grazing enclosed hill lands in Inistioge, Co Kilkenny, a short distance from the Carlow border.
“I came into the field to check up on them and the ewes that were there were lying up on the hill but there were 15 missing.
“I don’t know if they managed to wander and were picked up by another farmer later or what could have happened to them.

“Talking to others in the area, it doesn’t seem that there has been any sheep thefts reported recently so I don’t know what could have happened them,” he said.
Doyle valued the ewes at around €3,500 and has asked that anyone who may have information on the sheep’s whereabouts to contact him at 086-0700455.
