Approximately 7,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power following storm Atiyah, which hit the southeast coast on Sunday evening.

The number affected continues to fall as ESB crews mobilise in the affected areas, predominantly along the western seaboard

The ESB said crews had worked to restore power to 27,000 homes, farms and businesses throughout the evening and overnight.

All affected premises are expected to have their power fully restored by the end of Monday.

In a warning to farmers, the ESB said: “We would remind farm families going about their work this morning to be mindful of any fallen overhead lines.

“Stay safe, stay clear and report damage to 1850 372 999.”

Gardaí have advised that there are a number of fallen trees, particularly in Kerry.
