A status yellow wind warning has been issued by Met Éireann for counties Cork and Kerry.
The warning is operational from midnight on Wednesday until midnight on Thursday.
Strong southerly winds will later veer westerly, reaching average speeds of 50-65km/h. Stronger gusts may be felt in coastal areas.
Rain warning
A yellow rain warning is in place from midnight Wednesday for the south and west. Counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Mayo and Waterford have all been included in the status yellow warning.
Rainfall of 30-50 mm is to be expected, with some localised flooding taking place. Rainfall will be highest in mountainous areas
The warning will remain in place until midnight Thursday.
