Hennessy Auctioneers monthly midlands machinery auction saw a strong trade and overall clearance rate of 85% despite the weekend’s IT challenges.

This Amazone Z-AM 1500 3t fertiliser spreader sold for €3,300 plus commission.

This was the firm’s first fully online machinery auction. But, similar to the number of cattle marts it was too affected by the technical IT glitch experienced by LSL Auctions on Saturday. However, the online auction was rescheduled and took place on Monday 26 October without a hitch.

This Tuffmac 14ft x 8ft tipping trailer with ramps sold for €7,700 plus commission.

There was a great yard of well-maintained farm and plant machinery up for grabs, with over 250 lots sold by Monday evening.

This 1994 Matbro TR250 pivot steer loader sold for €10,050 plus commission.

Speaking with John Hennessy he said; “It was a roller coaster of a weekend. First the auction was entirely online which was a first and very daunting for us. Second the LSL Auction system went down on Saturday so we had to reschedule the auction to Monday.

But despite the challenges the auction went well with an 85% clearance and a number of larger items under negotiation.”

This Kverneland five furrow plough sold for €4,200 plus commission.

“Customers in general adapted well to the online auction with over 500 registered online bidders but you cannot beat the atmosphere of a traditional auction.

“We hope we’ll get back to normal shortly,” said John.

This HiSpec 3,200 gallon tanker was bid to €6,100.

All prices had no VAT unless otherwise stated. Commission was charged at 5% plus VAT on all lots with a maximum fee of €1,000 plus VAT.

Next month’s auction is scheduled to take place on Saturday 21 November.
