The management of suckler cows and the outlook for beef markets will be discussed at an event in Claremorris, Co Mayo on Wednesday evening.

The Suckler and Beef Expo is being organised by Carroll Consultancy, is open to all farmers and qualifies as a department-approved Knowledge Transfer (KT) event.

Irish Farmers Journal beef editor Adam Woods and local vet Sarah Dixon will outline best practices for the calving period at the expo.

Following this, Irish Farmers Journal editor and chief executive Justin McCarthy will discuss the outlook for beef markets as well as policies that impact beef production.

“Suckler and beef farmers form a huge part of our business and we relish the opportunity to give some information and advice back to the many farmers of the region who support our business daily,” said Stephen Blewitt from event sponsor Aurivo Agribusiness.

The event is free to attend is being held at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris. There will be around 20 agri-business trade stands and the event opens at 6pm with the speakers beginning at 7.45pm.
