Strong demand for lamb and a switch over from hoggets means local plants were eager for numbers this week.

The trade in last Saturday’s sale was brisk for all fleshed lambs, with lighter lambs selling to a top price per kilo of €3.76/kg for 44.5kg lambs selling for €163.

Sheep Trends: more lambs but kill unchanged
Some producer groups are reporting lamb numbers rising by anywhere from 50% to 100% on last week, while hogget numbers continue to follow a sharp seasonal decline.
