There will be a temporary closure of four Aurivo marts following an accident at Mohill Mart on Saturday 7 April.

Management at Aurivo, took the decision to close Ballymote Livestock Mart, Co Sligo, Mohill Livestock Mart, Co Leitrim, and Ballinrobe and Balla Livestock Marts, Co Mayo, for a week to conduct a review of safety procedures and systems.

A spokesperson for Aurivo Co-op, the operator of the mart, told the Irish Farmers Journal that a customer in his 70s was involved in an accident with a bull on Saturday morning.

The man was airlifted from the site by the emergency services to Sligo University Hospital.

Aurivo has apologised for any inconvenience caused but states that the decision is “prudent,” as the health and safety of its customers, suppliers, members and employees is of “paramount importance”.
