The 30 acres in Newhaggard, Co Meath sold in lots in mid-December, with the level of interest intense for certain lots.

The first lot offered was a residence on an acre and was guided for €80,000.

Seven bidders showed interest in this lot and bidding reached €130,000 before it was sold under the hammer.

This opened at €80,000 or just over €7,200/ac before three bidders pushed that to €125,000 or over 11,350/ac. This lot was bought by a dairy farmer

The second lot was the 11-acre holding guided for €100,000, or just under €9,100/ac.

The third lot was a 17.5-acre parcel which was guided for €130,000, or €7,500/ac.

This also beat its reserve. Opening at €100,000 or €5,700/ac, it quickly shot up to its final selling price of €145,000 or €8,285/ac. It too was purchased by a dairy farmer.

The auction took place on the same day as that of the 103 acres at Gehanstown.

This sale concluded what was a busy 2018 for Stephen Barry of Raymond Potterton, boasting numerous successful land sales over the course of 12 months, particularly at auction time.
