A 66.5ac block of top-quality land has come on the market in Co Kilkenny. The holding is at Neigham which is 4.5km from Gowran village.

The landmark Neigham Castle is on the land. The castle dates back to 1487 though has not been inhabited since the mid-1600s. The structure is in ruins and not accessible by the public.

The land will be sold by auction on Friday 4 June at 3pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

The agent handling the sale is Pat Gannon Auctioneers.

The land is currently in tillage, is in one self contained block and it has over 600m of road frontage. The farmland in the immediate area is recognised as being of very high quality.

Auctioneer Pat Gannon said that the land would be offered at auction in three lots. Lot 1 is the entire 66.5ac; lot 2 is 56ac and lot 3 is 10.5ac. The guide price for the entire holding is €15,000/ac. Pat noted that the road on which the land is located is very quiet which will suit some potential buyers.
