Tuam Co-operative Livestock Mart in Co Galway will hold its first sale of Mule-Lanark-cross ewe lambs on Friday 18 September starting at 6pm.

The 600 lambs on offer are a cross between a Bluefaced Leicester ram and the Lanark-type of Scottish Blackface ewe.

Lambs on offer will weigh between 40kg and 55kg liveweight.

They will range in weight from 40kg to 55kg and are reported as ideal to put to the ram in 2020 or to run as dry hoggets until 2021.

On the latter point, the mart is planning to hold an annual sale and all lambs bought can be sold in 2021 as hoggets or at a later stage as mature ewes.

Homebred stock

The lambs on offer are all homebred stock and come from farms which have been breeding Mule lambs for over 30 years.

Lambs are sold as being dosed and dipped and are also on a clostridial disease vaccination programme using Heptavac-P.

Lambs on offer are all from farms which have been breeding Mule lambs for over 30 years.

The sale will be conducted in the ring and also online through the MartBids sales platform.

This will afford buyers who cannot attend the sale in person to purchase online, while buyers will also be accommodated with help in transporting lambs home if they require assistance. Tuam Mart can be contacted on 093-24353.
