The annual Tullamore Show saw great support from machinery companies and dealers who travelled from both far and near to display their latest offerings. From talking to exhibitors and punters across the course of the day it was obvious that all came away impressed with what they had seen. Some of the highlights included:
Adare Farm Machinery exhibited Doosan’s first dedicated agricultural silage loader. Doosan is well-known for manufacturing heavy duty wheel loaders for the construction and quarrying industry. The unit on show is the first in Ireland and is currently on a demo tour across the country.
The DL280-5 is powered by a 175hp six-cylinder common rail Doosan DL06 engine. The loader is fitted with ZF limited slip axles and weighs in at 15,500kg. Power is sent to the wheels using the ZF automatic power-shift torque converter transmission which has four gears and three driving modes. One new feature is the addition of Bosch Rexroth hydraulics.
The tanker's hydraulic suspension allows operators to raise or lower either axle.
Among the offerings from Cross Engineering was its tandem axle 3,500 gallon slurry tanker. The stand-out feature of this tanker is that it is fitted with HYDAC self-levelling hydraulic suspension. This means that if the tanker is on a slope it can adjust its axle height accordingly to remain level. The addition of hydraulic suspension adds the option of lifting either the front or rear steering axle independently from the electrical control box inside the cab over its load sensing hydraulic system. Other features on the tanker include the lazy arm autofill system, air over hydraulic brakes, a hydraulically-driven, side-mounted pump and a Bomtech trailing shoe system. The tanker's electrical control box offers operators the option of pressing a “finish button” which shuts off slurry flow and folds the trailing shoe automatically.
Belair Gabare Premium L zero grazing machine
Tom Shaw had the Belair Gabare Premium L zero grazing machine on display.
Tom Shaw Machinery, main Irish importer of Belair equipment had one of the latest zero grazing machines offered by the French feed equipment manufacturer on display . The model on show was the Premium L, best suited to the large farmer or contractor market given its large carrying capacity and strong physical build. The Premium L is fitted as standard with 600/50 R22.5 tyres, LED lights, a sprung tandem axle, automatic elevator lubrication system and a mechanically locking rear door. Models now have a wider body and in turn a wider elevator to handle the intake of grass being cut with the 2.25m drum mower unit.
ECI had the JCB 532-70 Agri Pro among its offerings in Tullamore.
ECI JCB showcased one of JCB’s latest telehandler offerings at Tullamore Show. The Loadall 532-70 Agri Pro has a 7m lift height and a maximum lift capacity of 3,200kg. Underneath the new bonnet is a 145hp JCB EcoMax engine. The unit on show – the highest spec “Agri Pro” model – is fitted with JCB’s DualTech VT 2-in-1 transmission. This 2-in-1 technology benefits from both hydrostatic and powershift elements. Work under speeds of 19km/h use the hydrostatic drive while faster applications up to 40km/h automatically switch over to powershift drive. The biggest change to the new Loadall is the new CommandPlus cab – creating a more pleasant environment for the operator. Increased cabin size with improved visibility and reduced cabin noise are among the new features that make the much better than the previous.
Erth engineering AgriSeeder
The Erth Engineering AgriSeeder.
Northern Irish engineering firm Erth had one of its well-known AgriSeeders at this year’s show. Although the AgriSeeder has been on the market for some time now, direct drilling into established pastures is becoming more common. The 32-row 3m galvanised unit on display leaves 94mm row spacings. Units can be fitted with front and rear harrow options as well as the option of double entry coulters for fertiliser application. The drill weighs in at 1,710kg, with the option of adding weights to the main frame from increased downwards pressure. Either mechanical or electrical seed metering units are available with a 400l seed hopper coming as standard.
The tri-axle FeedAll Grass Grazer exhibited by Desmond Condell Engineering.
Desmond Condell Engineering had an impressive tri-axle Grass Grazer on show. The machine is fitted with a Krone 280 2.8m disc mower independently suspended from the elevator. Load sensing hydraulics operate the elevator box, raising and lowering of the mower bed, floor movement and the opening and closing of the rear door.
