Gardaí in Newcastlewest, Co Limerick have arrested two men following a 12-month investigation into a series a burglaries in the Limerick,Kerry and north Cork areas.

The men are 55 and 37 years of age and were arrested in the Kilmallock area of Co Limerick on 19 December.

During the arrest a quad bike with an estimated value of €8,000 was recovered.

The two are expected to appear before Kilmallock District Court tomorrow morning, Thursday 21 December 2017 charged in connection with this investigation.

Last week, the Irish Farmers Journal spoke to farmer John Leahy from the Newcastlewest area who had recently had his quad bike stolen.

Leahy commented that there had been a number of thefts in the area over the past year.

The two men will appear before Midleton district court on 21 December to face charges in relation to a number of farm machinery thefts.
