Local farmers in Longford will be sitting up and paying attention, after two smaller, manageable packages have come up for grabs. The two grazing farms in Co Longford will be auctioned in the coming weeks by Dillon Murtagh of Murtagh Bros.

The first of these is the 27-acre farm at Deerpark, Newtownforbes, which is to be auctioned on 23 November and the second is a 40-acre farm at Aughafin near Edgeworthstown, that will go under the hammer on 30 November. Both will be auctioned in the Longford Arms Hotel at 3pm on the respective days.

The farms

The first farm is a 27-acre holding that is offered in three lots. Guided for between €7,000/ac and €8,000/ac, it is laid out in three separate divisions, with each division containing road frontage. The second farm consists of 40 acres and is also guided between €7,000/ac and €8,000/ac. This holding is very well laid out and is presented in nice tidy fields. In six divisions in total, it has a good shelter belt and is well fenced. Like the 27 acres, it is in grass.

Well watered and fenced, Murtagh describes it as “a farmer’s farm”. Interest suggests this, as it has predominately been north Longford farmers enquiring.
