Data from Eurostat shows that UK October milk collections stand at 1.16m tonnes – 1.62% behind the three-year average. This is the eighth month in which collections were less than their corresponding month last year. Only January and February were up on 2015 figures.

Overall milk collections in the UK from the start of the year to the end of October total 12.29m tonnes, 3.6% less than the same period last year.

Italian and Spanish milk collections for October also fell compared with the corresponding month last year.

Elsewhere, in New Zealand, milk collections for October fell to their lowest level since 2012 according to the latest figures released by Dairy Companies Association of New Zealand.
