GPS guidance and precision farming are becoming established across the country. There are many reasons for this, including financial savings, as well as fertiliser and chemical savings. A large number of farmers are making the move and retrofitting units to older machines that may not have been factory-fitted with this technology.

Irish Trimble distributor Vantage Ireland supplies a range of units depending on user requirements and budgets. On display at crops and Spreaders, Vantage will have three units set up and working on tractors.

A case Puma 150 and trailed Bredal spreader will be retrofitted with a Trimble GFX-750 10in touchscreen unit and Autopilot automated steering unit. A New Holland-mounted Rauch spreader will be equipped with a GFX-750 display, capable of variable rate section controlled spreading using Trimble’s TUVR protocol.

The third tractor is a guidance-ready JCB Fastrac 4220 and Rauch spreader. The tractor also features a GFX-750 display now with RTK and Isobus capabilities on board.
