Next week sees one of the biggest agricultural events in Northern Ireland, Balmoral Show, take place from Wednesday 13 May to Saturday 16 May. The show is previewed in this week’s Focus on pages 40-45.
Balmoral Show has been running for a remarkable 157 years and is a celebration of all things rural. Over 3,500 head of livestock will take part in the competitions across the four-day event on the 65ac site just outside Lisburn.
There are also over 500 trade stands, young farmer demonstrations, sheepdog trials, sheep-shearing and much more. The show marks the start of the showing season across Ireland, with shows now taking place almost every weekend from now until the end of September. The Irish Farmers Journal stand will be in its usual spot overlooking the cattle lawns, and if you are at the show be sure to drop into the stand for a chat with the team over a cup of tea.
