This week we report on the findings of the latest Agri-Food Regulator supplier survey and interview CEO, Niamh Lenehan.
They are clearly getting traction, but it’s evident that that they are better known to processors than farmers if the surveys on each are compared.
The carrot approach wasn’t enough without the stick and that has now been added, with the legislation compelling co-operation due to come into effect at the end of this year.
Their work on bringing transparency to beef values beyond the farm gate is welcome and it has the effect of leaving us wanting more.
At this point, it is right to commend them for what they have done but also point out that more is required in bringing greater transparency to supply chains beyond the farm gate .
