Looking at the weather forecast, you might question the commencement of meteorological summer as being 1 June, but summer time is now officially upon us and with that comes the school holidays and the appearance of eager and exuberant young tractor drivers on many farms around the country.
As a teenager, you think you are invincible, and sitting behind the steering wheel of a 100HP+ tractor only adds to that sense of invincibility.
If there are young people lending a hand over the summer months, make sure you have the chat about the dangers of all machinery on the farm including quads.
Families helping each other out and working on farms during the summer months should be a happy time. Let’s keep it that way by minimising risks and knowing the dangers.
