After 23 years in the Irish Farmers Journal, Jack Kennedy leaves an indelible mark as dairy editor, deputy editor and as editor.

Throughout his tenure he championed the ethos of providing farmers with the information, tools and insights to make decisions that would improve their farms, incomes and households. The Irish Farmers Journal Milk League, factory price league, Martbids app, price database, and farmersjournal.ie were continuously developed and improved on his watch.

Jack hugely valued interaction with farmers and the industry, whether that was through one-to-one conversations about individual farm challenges, texts from podcast listeners, a lively Farm Tech Talk, a debate at the Women and Agriculture Conference, mart meetings or chairing industry events.

Innovation

Behind the scenes, he always pushed for more innovation online, in print and at in-person events, and was never happy to simply repeat a formula. He was always open to debate on positions, stories and viewpoints and would hear all sides before coming to a conclusion. Throughout his career, he supported and mentored younger colleagues, giving them a chance to develop and shine. We thank Jack for his service and support and we wish him and his family all the very best.
