Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning, with mean speeds reaching 50km/h to 65km/h and gusts expected to reach between 90km/h and 110km/h.

The affected regions include Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.

The warning takes effect on Saturday 20 February at 11am and will remain in place until 6pm the same day.

It follows heavy rainfall across much of the country and is likely to compound wintry weather conditions being experienced on many farms.
