Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, and Mayo. The alert comes into effect on Friday 23 October at 10pm.

On Friday night, south to southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h, with gusts of 90km/h to 110km/h.

Winds speeds may be higher in coastal and exposed areas, especially in Galway and Mayo.

The alert is valid until Saturday 24 October at 7am.

Other warnings

A status yellow wind warning is also in place for Wexford, Cork and Waterford, coming into effect at 11pm on Friday until 10am Saturday.

Meanwhile, a status yellow rainfall warning is in place for Galway and Mayo from 9pm on Friday until 9am Saturday.

Rain on Friday evening through to Saturday morning will lead to accumulations of 20mm to 40mm, with higher accumulations in mountainous areas.

This will bring a risk of localised flooding and heightened risk of flash flooding in mountainous areas.
