Monday morning rain in the west and southwest will become persistent and heavy but the east will stay mostly dry until later, according to Met Éireann. The rain will gradually spread northeastwards during the afternoon and evening. Top temperatures will range from 14°C to 17°C in light southeast to east breezes which will increase to moderate by evening.

Rain will be widespread Monday night, with some very heavy falls in places, though it will ease in west and southwest coastal counties later. Temperatures will range from 9°C to 13°C in mostly light southeasterly breezes.

Tuesday: There will be rain in many areas in the early morning, especially in the eastern half of the country, but it will turn more showery during the day, with some bright or sunny spells developing. Some of the showers will be heavy and rain may linger in some eastern areas. It will be quite warm and humid, with maximum temperatures of 16°C to 20°C, warmest in the midwest and west, in mostly moderate southeasterly winds.

Wednesday: There will be some bright spells, but occasional showers, or longer spells of rain also, heavy in places, with a slight risk of thunder. Temperatures will range from 15°C to 19°C in mostly moderate winds, between northeast and northwest in direction.

Thursday: It will be much cooler, with temperatures of just 13°C to 15°C . It will be windy also, with fresh and gusty north to northwest winds. There will be some bright or sunny spells, especially in the east, but showers also, merging to give longer spells of rain in places.

Friday: It will still be very cool and windy, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers. Temperatures will range from 13°C to 16°C in fresh to strong northwesterly winds.

Early indications are that it will remain changeable and unsettled next weekend, with rain at times, but dry spells also and a slight improvement in temperatures.

The recent warm weather resulted in mean air temperatures being generally 2°C to 3.5°C above normal. The coming week will see normal or slightly cooler than normal mean air temperatures.

Sunshine

In the last week most of the country recorded above normal sunshine amounts, with up to one and a half times of normal. The coming week will see a fair deal of cloud, resulting in less than normal sunshine amount country wide.

Drying conditions

Drying conditions are currently good but will be generally poor next week.

Spraying

Spraying conditions will be mostly poor due to rain or wind.

Field conditions

Soil moisture deficits are currently normal.
