DEAR SIR: I have three observations I’d like to make.

1. The mushroom industry has announced that straw may have to be imported into Ireland. Who will guarantee that no non-native weed seed or grasses will be allowed in?

2. Canary grass seed is in bird seed for sale in Ireland.

3. Teagasc has glyphosate-tolerant fescue grass at its new turf grass academy.

Who is in charge of our biosecurity and why are these types of threats allowed?
