Irish Country Living is delighted to announce the details of our hugely popular Women & Agriculture conference. Run in association with FBD and Sherry Fitzgerald, we have a lineup that will have you laughing, engaged, informed and rejuvenated.

  • We will be kicking off this year’s event with a gala dinner on the evening of Wednesday 26 October. Popping the prosecco, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fantastic meal, meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.

    This year, we are delighted to announce Fionnuala Kenny as our keynote speaker. What has it been like being the Taoiseach’s wife for the past five years? Fionnuala promises to speak from the heart and give a glimpse into her life which has relatively been kept out of the spotlight.

    Joan Freeman from Pieta House will also be speaking about the importance of discussing mental health issues as well as addressing how charities in Ireland have been affected and what they must do to keep donations going to a worthy cause in the future.

    Dr Rhona Mahony, Master of the National Maternity Hospital, will address women’s reproductive health in a way that is both sensitive but essential. And Paula Mee and Kate O’Brien will take on the topic of menopause, which is the focus of their recent book, The Middle Years.

    Taste buds an the ready, Neven Maguire will be hosting a cookery demo with a festive touch. And our popular “On the Couch” sessions are back, with real women talking about their struggles and successes. Mary Sadlier from Coole Swan, Anna Marie McHugh from the National Ploughing Championships, Margaret Farrelly from O’Egg and Margaret Hoctor of Kilmullen Farm will have an honest and frank conversation about the balancing act and working in agriculture. Other topics covered include what’s it like surviving cancer, how you can manage diabetes, and how to face rising blood pressure and heart issues. Our afternoon panel will be giving their real-life experiences.

    Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, will discuss his plans within in his role, while Aisling Meehan from the Irish Farmers Journal will be taking on your legal queries.
