Virtual Machinery Day 2021 - Episode 1.

IFJ Virtual Machinery Day 2021.

You can watch back either of our two jam-packed free shows touching on some of the hot topics and issues within the machinery industry.

Content from across the day included; machine comparisons, and interviews with farmers, manufacturers and industry stakeholders from across the country.

Show one

In our first episode, we travelled to the Irish Farmers Journal suckler and sheep demonstration farm in Tullamore, Co Offaly, to compare and contrast the various low emission slurry (LESS) application methods in two trial plots.

Following that, we went west to the manufacturing hub that is Co Mayo to visit Malone Farm Machinery. Here we got an insight into the business as it enters its third decade and found out more on the high standard of agricultural engineering that goes on here in Ireland.

Rounding up or first show, we travelled to north Co Cork to discuss GPS systems and their benefits in aiding the precise application of costly inputs.

Show two

In the second show, we travelled to north Tipperary, where we took a look at some of the leading bale shears and plastic retaining devices on the Irish market.

We got a feel for what each has to offer and their costs.

Next up, we looked into one of the major complications the sector faces as a result of Brexit.

We looked into the new regulations for importing used machinery and travelled to north Co Dublin to meet the associated bodies, to find out what exactly is involved in importing used machinery into the future.

Finally, we took a look at some of the latest Irish engineering innovations, in particular an innovation in its infancy at farm level and another recent innovation from an Irish company manufacturing on a global scale, supplying leading tractor manufacturers.

We touched on future challenges and innovations, as well as the supports available for farm-level entrepreneurs wanting to progress to the next level.

Both shows are available to watch back any time here.
