The thefts were reported in eight counties. Galway has the highest number of thefts, with figures showing that six cattle were stolen in the county in March.
Limerick had the next-highest number of thefts with five, followed by Meath with four.

Then came Donegal with three. Counties Mayo, Laois, Clare and Cork have all reported one cattle theft to date.
In 2016, a total of 125 cattle were stolen in the State.
