Órnua is currently recruiting to fill vacancies in its newly-built butter production and packing facility for Kerrygold in Mitchelstown, Co Cork.

For this new facility, which will also house a new product development, innovation and customer centre, Kerrygold is recruiting butter makers, materials handlers, warehouse operatives, machine operatives and packers. 11 roles have been filled to date, with approximately 45 more to come on stream, and Órnua expects to have these remaining positions filled by the start of the summer.

All education levels

While third-level degrees are required for some of the new roles, not all of the positions require candidates be college graduates.

Órnua is very keen to showcase what they do and the scope of careers available with them at the Irish Farmers Journal and open eir Agri Careers Fair, which takes place in the RDS on 3 March.

“The Agri Careers Fair is a great opportunity for a company to introduce its business to young graduates,” says Jeanne Kelly, head of communications at Ornua. “We want to introduce who we are and what’s available to young graduates interested in developing a career in the food and agriculture sector. In the new post-quota environment, career opportunities with us are very varied and challenging.”

“We are interested in speaking to graduates from all backgrounds as we have many businesses within the group, with roles across our food technology, commercial, legal, marketing, design, branding and trading teams.”

While Ornua’s headquarters is based in Ireland, it has sales and marketing teams based in its core markets of Germany, the US and the UK and the emerging markets of China, the Middle East, North Africa and Africa.

Ornua also has an established a manufacturing presence in China, Spain, the UK, US and the Middle East.

More recently, Ornua opened a new Kerrygold packing facility in Nigeria and, in the coming months, Ornua will open a new plant in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that will utilise IP developed by its food technology team in Moorepark, Co Cork. These technologies will be used to create cheeses that will serve the growing demand for white cheeses in the Middle East and North African market. Ornua is also currently recruiting for its Kerrygold butter production and packing facility in Mitchelstown, Co Cork.
