On top of the Carbery 1c/litre bonus announced last week for 2016 milk supplies, we understand a number of the west Cork co-ops are coming out with an additional bonus.

Lisavaird has announced it will pay an additional 1.2c/l bonus on top of the Carbery 1c/l bonus on 2016 supplies.

For a Lisavaird cow producing 5,000 litres, that equates to a bonus payment of €110/ cow, which for a farmer with 80 cows is a milk cheque bonus of €8,800. Drinagh is paying an additonal 0.25c/l on top of the 1c/l Carbery payment.

Barryroe is paying an additional 0.5c/l on top of the Carbery bonus. Nobody from Bandon was available for comment but it is expected to pay in the region of 0.5c/l on top of the 1c/l Carbery bonus.
