Larry Goodman's ABP Food Group is closing in on a deal to aquire Slaney Foods.

The Larry Goodman-owned ABP Food Group looks set to take control of 28% to 30% of the national cattle kill in Ireland.
As revealed on farmersjournal.ie, ABP is set to acquire a 50% share in Slaney Foods, which controls both Slaney Meats and Irish Country Meats. The move will see ABP grow its share of the national kill from between 22% and 24% to near 30%, with annual throughput at Slaney Foods totalling 85,000 head per annum. Meanwhile, if the deal is approved by the Competition and Consumer Protection Authority, it will see ABP taking control of 40% of the Irish sheep kill, with the ICM plants in Meath and Wexford understood to be slaughtering a million sheep per annum.
