The Dealer hears that an IFA executive council meeting will take place tomorrow, Wednesday 25 November, at 11am in the Irish Farm Centre.

Since the 9 o’clock news last night, I have been listening to the IFA’s Tim O’Leary on all sorts of media. Now he’ll have to face the farmer representatives outside of the pale, and troubling is brewing. Numerous meetings are being held in all four corners of the country.

Interestingly, though, I hear from my contacts in the Irish Farmers Journal newsroom that the IFA antics are not the only thing on farmers’ minds. Articles on a potential new tagging system, a German farmer generating €1.8m per year out of 75 cows and tips to recycle crash barriers on farm buildings have attracted as many readers as the latest pay package revelations during the past few days of wall-to-wall online coverage.
